If it’s «yes» then I would like to use this opportunity to introduce myself and highlight my professional and educational experience and latest achievements. My name is Lizaveta Astrouskaya and I come from the small but politically unfortunate European country called Belarus. Regardless of governmental repressions and persecution towards my nation I do enjoy the right for a free education very much:
With my educational background studying double major (Biomedical Sciences and Education + PGCE) for 5 years at Belarusian State University (2015 - 2020) I have gained a Diploma of Higher Education and a perfect perspective to combine 2 qualifications of «Biologist-Analyst» and «The Teacher of Biology» into one outstanding profession – Science Teacher.
- During my later career development I gained 2 years of professional experience (2020-2022) working as a Junior Research Worker at Belarusian State Institution «Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Medical Expertise and Rehabilitation» where I significantly increased my subject knowledge. It was about that time when I started my tutoring as newly minted TEFL teacher (2020: GA Level 3 Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (2020/GA/02613) and decided that I was ready to make a right turn and fully dive into Education Sector.
- Confident that my experience, backed by continuous professional development and a passion for educational equity would make me a perfect British teacher I entered PGCE (secondary science) program at Portsmouth University (the UK) at the fall of 2022. But there are things that cannot be avoided and I had to make a difficult decision: I interrupted my studies (January 2023) and urgently returned back to my home country due to a sudden illness of a family member.
- And that is how my own professional journey started from August 2023 at Belarusian State Educational Institution «Lugovoslobodskaya Secondary School» (Belarus) where I was pursuing an early career teaching years (August 2023 – August 2024), working as a full time Secondary Science Teacher with 21-teaching hours per week for the first year of my teaching experience.
My professional achievements include:
- Essential professional experience of teaching such subjects as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Basics of First Medical Aid and The Key Concepts of Elementary Science (KS2 Science Club).
- Extensive experience in imparting lessons and developing curriculum and teaching materials to KS2- KS4 students (7-16y.o.): able to design and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards of the UK as well as the Republic of Belarus, conduct practical experiments, evaluate students’ progress through different assessments, provide feedback, give individualized lessons, actively participate in the school life and volunteering events.
My personal achievements in Educational Sector include:
- My commitment to education was recognized by the Head of Belarussian Regional Department of Education as «Outstanding»: I actively participated in an innovative project called «Belarusian School-Based Ecosystem» for which I was granted a Letter of appreciation and gratitude from both: the Department of Education and administration of Lugovoslobodskaya Secondary School.
- I developed the key ideas of the concept including the school's web-portal, virtual interaction schemes, designed students’ web-site and the school’s network space, where all teachers can create and share their own materials and have access to all virtual school resources.
- With my participation my school introduced new idea to Belarussian Educational Market conferences. And we came in 3d place in a State Innovation and Education Contest and Conference.
And if you are interested in my personality you should also know that
- My Certificate of General Secondary Education as well as my Diploma of Higher Education contain average marks of 90% and 80% accordingly which equals to the first-class degree in the UK.
- I am fluent in 3 languages: Russian, English, and Belarusian. Moreover I can read and speak Ukrainian and Polish.
- I am a certified TEFL teacher and do the English language tutoring as a hobby.
- As a part of Belarusian education I received the first medical aid training and able to act appropriately in case of emergency.
- Sometimes I participate in local environmental campaigns, volunteering in dog shelters and sport events.
- I am still looking for an opportunity to return back to the UK where I spent my childhood.

- Give you a helping hand with Ukrainian students overcoming the English language barrier, or any Russian speaking child or adult who struggles to adapt to a new learning environment.
- Can help with literature clubs such as «learning Cyrillic».
- Actively participate in various school extracurricular activities: enjoy cooking, painting and sketching (2010: “Art and Design” course certificate), writing and e-design, swimming, horse riding, or events of Orthodox- Catholic community as I was born in the one myself.
