Electrical Engineer (Secondary Engineer)

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team. You have a completed technical
professional education and work experience in high voltage, power engineering or
industrial automation.

Job Requirements
You have knowledge of systems engineering, control and security engineering and
electrical engineering. Essential knowledge of medium and high voltage installations is
required. Working with various standards, both local and global, and considering the
specific needs of each customer and project, is an essential aspect of this position. Fluent
communication in English at the B2 level (independent user) is required for working with
technical documentation, conducting business correspondence and negotiating with
international clients.

Job responsibilities
You will work with fellow engineers, BIM modellers, AutoCAD, El-cad and/or E-plan
engineers to create designs for secondary electrical installations in high voltage
substations. Your tasks include developing ground diagrams, function diagrams, I/O lists
and circuit diagrams. Furthermore, realizing overview drawings of space layout for locating
electrical equipment and cable routes. In addition to performing design functions, it is
necessary that you can perform calculations such as cable tray fill ratios, cable diameters
and lengths. In addition, you will assist in creating general design documentation. Within

an electrical engineer you will make a valuable contribution to these projects. A keen eye
for detail, logical thinking skills, creativity, perseverance, determination, independence and
the ability to make responsible decisions and work in a team are essential qualities for this

Project work (Primary)

Within high voltage there are three main disciplines:

1. Primary
2. Secondary - Telecom
- Tertiary
3. Civiel
In addition, the high voltage work area includes other disciplines, depending on the project and engineering work, such as:
Earthing, Lightning Protection and EMC, Cables and Lines.
Given my expertise in the primary field, there are a few technical directions to explore: Need people with experience in:
Electrical Engineering and Construction Engineering.
Regarding high-voltage projects, the following tasks are performed by project team members in the Electrical Engineering document: Short-circuit current calculations and short-circuit power calculations (per component, the field in question and the entire switching station)
These documents are input for the construction calculations of the various primary components.
The construction calculations determine whether the steel structure on which the primary components are placed is designed to be strong enough to withstand various loads. These loads include short-circuit forces, wind force, ice weight, tensile forces, etc.
The forces applied are determined by the customer's standards, requirements and assumptions.
In parallel with the calculations, the following drawings have been made for a project (for new construction) or updated (for replacement/renovation):
- 3D model (BIM) is set up for the entire station.
In order do make this model the following input information is needed:
- 3D scan above ground (Point Cloud) existing situation,
- 3D scan underground (ground radar scan) existing/new situation,
- Klic notification existing/new situation,
- An overview drawing of the entire station,
- An overview drawing of the field (transformer field, coupling field
(transverse/longitudinal), line field, cable field or generator field),
- An installation drawing per component,
- A construction drawing per component and
- An overview drawing of terminals and conductors.
These are the primary tasks, and there are other tasks that overlap the primary work that will be worked on at another time.

Project organization (Primary)
To carry out a project, various functions/roles are required:
The lead engineer who oversees the tasks and acts as a technical advisor, contact person with customers and coordinates with suppliers.

The lead engineer defines design principles with customer input, verifies and validates that specifications are met, manages interfaces with other disciplines, and ensures resource allocation, cost, and scheduling.
The engineer has the electrical expertise, maintains contact with the customer, if necessary, prepares electrical documents and works together with the constructor and BIM modeller.
The constructor/draftsman engineer, who has constructive knowledge, has contact with customers, if necessary, prepares construction calculations and works together with the engineer and BIM modeller.

The BIM-modeller
Develops a 3D BIM model of the entire project and converts it into 2D drawings with input from the constructor and engineer.
